February Westside News

I did not get around to the print copy of the Westside News this month, look for this update returning next month in your mail.

Crane fly problem...

I just finished some site visits on our clients accounts and am finding early signs of the Crane Fly Larva chomping on lawns. This is surprising especially since it is just the end of January. I am blaming La Nina for this. The temperatures on sunny days are just too warm for this time of year and the last couple of years the trend has been moving warmer in the winter and springs, thus the main reason for this infestation.

Anytime the temps get over 50 degrees the grass will grow and the larva will start munching. We have also had very little freeze the last couple of years due to the off shore weather pattern that we are in, hopefully next year it flips to the El Nino helping to slow this trend down.

We have started spraying lawns and will spray all lawns by the months end. Also this year due to the early breakout some lawns may need two sprayings, I will keep you posted and the Westside News is your best source for information on the condition of your lawn and our spraying schedule.

Spring is just around the corner...

I am seeing a lot of interest in the last couple weeks for new projects, in fact if you book a new project by the end of May I will give you steep discounts to book into our schedule early. Projects like a new lawn with the proper soil so that you don't get Crane Fly, also sprinkler systems, paving stone patios, water features or whatever you may have in mind?

Back yards were the most popular remodels last year, most of the folks out there are staying put in their homes and not following the re-financing trends of the past, ready to spend some quality time outdoors this year. I can help you with that, just give me a shout I would love to hear your ideas.

New Services features...

Spraying program- if you are having trouble with your lawn crane fly ect, we will take care of it for those of you that are under contract with us. Because of the increasing problem of insect and disease infestations, especially with the warming trend, I am in the process of developing a complete turf and ornamental spraying program, look for upcoming info here.

Gutters- we are now cleaning gutters, call the office for info and scheduling at 503-585-9517 or email for appointment.

Snow removal- although we had a small amount of snow so far this year we have increased our presence in the snow removal category greatly. This is mostly a commercial service that we perform but we can apply this to any business or private property.

Looking forward to a fantastic 2012!!
