Our Carbon Footprint
We have started this section of our web site to let you know that we do care
about the environment and that we are working towards sustainability in many areas. As this area of the industry grows, we are continuously striving to find what are both sustainable and effective.
- We haul almost 100% of our yard debris, and deliver and handle it onsite at our own facility. The grass, leaves and woody branches are all separated. The grass and leaves are composted and returned to the soil on our farm and the woody branches are shredded and composted for use in our nursery.
- We recycle all of our waste into separate containers for metal, plastic, cardboard/paper, bottles and cans and regular garbage.
- We use low wattage florescent bulbs in most of our facilities.
- We use drip irrigation on all of our nursery stock containers.
- We instruct our employees to only drive the speed limit never over 55 MPH and to never idle their trucks on the job site or in our production yard.
- We have made concerted efforts to turn off lights, keep doors closed, and keep the heat turned down, much to the chagrin of our office staff.
